Network Management

Open source network management tools are of very high quality and are routinely used even in proprietary operating systems (e.g. Mac OS X). They include e-mail servers, file servers, backup software, print servers and directory servers.

Using tools such as these, you can replace servers requiring licences (Windows, Mac OS X) with free Linux servers running on commodity hardware.
