Data modelling

The word "data" is used here as an umbrella term for traditional stored data as well as for information, objects or knowledge.

Vimia believes in "data first", i.e. the establishment of clear data models before code is written. In addition, care is taken to represent data in a platform and program independent manner so you can access your data always and from everywhere.

• XML: creation of schemas, data binding (Castor, JAXB);
• RDBMS: creation of schemas, data persistence and object-relational mapping (Castor);
• data dictionary: creation and administration;
• knowledge: creation of ontologies and metadata (e.g. RDF, Dublin Core).
